Criteria for Tsunami Design of Buildings and Other Structures has been prepared by the Department of Earthquake Engineering at NED University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan as part of a research project entitled Strengthening Tsunami and Earthquake Preparedness in Coastal Areas of Pakistan. The project was funded by The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The design and assessment procedures described in this document are adapted from Chapter 6 of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) standard for Minimum design loads and associated criteria for buildings and other structures (ASCE/SEI 7-16).
In order to facilitate the designers and other interested users, a computer code named as Tsunami Load Calculation Program is also developed which provides tsunami design load on a structure located in the tsunami design zones in Pakistan. Use and distribution of this code is not restricted and users outside NED University may use this program without charge. The use of this code, however, is subjected to the terms and conditions as defined by NED University which may change from time to time. Downloading the code from this website indicates acceptance of full responsibility by the user in using this computer program.
The link Tsunami Load Calculation ProgramV1.0 above allows downloading a '.zip' file which can be unzipped in any suitable directory on the user's computer. Double-click on the '.exe' file in the unzipped folder to run the Program. The use of this computer code requires installing Matlab Runtime (version 9.7).
